Trials is a one-person operation, and this policy is short because we collect very little. There are no accounts to sign up for and no mailing list. We do count visits to the site, and the Cookies section explains exactly how.

Who is responsible

Trials is the data controller for information collected through this site. Contact hello@trialsofficial.com about anything on this page.

What we collect

When you buy something

Your name, email address, delivery address and phone number, so we can take the order, post it to you and contact you if there is a problem. You give these to Stripe during checkout and we see them on the order.

We never see your card number. Stripe handles the payment and only tells us whether it succeeded, along with the last four digits and card type.

When you just browse

Your cart is stored in your own browser, on your own device. It is not sent to us until you start checkout, and we cannot read it before then.

Our host keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security and to keep the site running. We do not use these to build any profile of you.

We also record which pages you look at, when, which site you arrived from, and any campaign tags in the link you followed. This is measured by Oculis Analytics, a service we run ourselves on our own infrastructure. It is tied to a random identifier, not to your name, and it is never combined with your order details. We do not sell it, share it for advertising, or use it to target you.

If you complete a purchase, the Stripe checkout reference from your order confirmation page is sent to the same service so we can tell how many visits turned into sales. That reference carries no card details and no contact details.

Cookies

We set no advertising cookies. We do set the following analytics cookies, along with a few matching entries in your browser's local storage:

• oculis_visitor_id — a random identifier so repeat visits are not counted as new people. Expires after one year.
• oculis_first_referrer and oculis_utm_source, oculis_utm_medium, oculis_utm_campaign — remember where you first found us. Expire after one year.
• oculis_page_view_id — ties one page view together. Expires after an hour.

None of these are needed for the shop to work. You can block or delete them in your browser settings, or browse in a private window, and everything on the site will still function normally — including the cart and checkout.

Separately, Stripe sets its own cookies on its checkout page to prevent fraud. Their privacy policy covers that.

Why we are allowed to hold it

• To perform our contract with you covers everything needed to get your order packed and delivered.
• Legal obligation covers keeping sales records for HMRC.
• Legitimate interests covers basic security logging, preventing fraud, and measuring how the site is used so we can improve it.

Who else sees it

• Stripe processes payments and holds your order and contact details.
• Vercel hosts the site and processes requests to it.
• Oculis Analytics receives the visit data described above. We operate it ourselves, so it does not go to an outside analytics company.
• Royal Mail or a courier gets your name and address so your parcel arrives.
• HMRC, if we are legally required to produce records.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone for marketing.

How long we keep it

Order and payment records are kept for six years, which is what UK tax law requires. General emails are deleted once the conversation is finished and there is no reason to keep them. Analytics records are kept for 14 months and then deleted.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

• Show you a copy of what we hold about you
• Correct anything that is wrong
• Delete it, though we may have to keep order records for the tax period above
• Stop using it in a particular way, or object to how we use it
• Send it to you or another provider in a portable format

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator, at any time.
